Intersec Dubai 2020: A Reflection

With Intersec Dubai wrapped up for another year, we reflect back on an exciting few days spent at one of the biggest security tradeshows in the world - and one of the first events of the new year. At this year's event, three ACRE companies showcased their portfolios together - Vanderbilt, ComNet, and Open Options. Read how our team on the ground found the show and their key takeaways from Dubai.

A strong combination of ACRE brands

Intersec is one of the most important security tradeshows in the world. We received a really good response this year on the strong combination of all the ACRE brands- ComNet, Open Options, and Vanderbilt - standing together side-by-side, offering the market endless integration possibilities that are flexible and easily scalable. It was also an excellent platform for us to launch Open Options in the Middle East and we could immediately see a really high interest for the products. We had high-quality meetings with our strategic partners, most valued customers, and we awarded two of our key distribution partners with their Aspire Gold certificates during the show. It was a fantastic event for the Marketing team, Product and Technical team, and Sales team, who all did an excellent job of making this event such a success for us.

Excitement for upcoming SPC Connect launch

This year’s Intersec was a great show. We had lots of good conversations with a lot of interest in the SPC-Milestone plugin and the smart home solution. There was also great feedback for our upcoming SPC Connect 3.0 launch. The door entry phone Akuvox has also received huge interest and project opportunities. In addition, customer feedback indicated that Vanderbilt’s cloud-based access control ACT365 is seen as a great product with its simple commissioning process and the flexibility to extend a system easily. And excitingly, recent additions to our portfolio in late 2019 - the Bluetooth and the Biometric card readers - generated lots of interest and conversation.

Potential for future combined opportunities

This year’s Intersec was a very positive show with great interest across all three brands and a perfect example of how the ACRE family works for customers by offering complementary but different technical and market solutions. ComNet PoE industrial switches received great interest and our cutting-edge cybersecurity proved a big hit with integrators and end-users. Our Sales and Technical Support team in the territory has great knowledge of the marketplace, and the contacts that they have were all of good quality.A highlight of the show for me was the opportunity to introduce some of our key Vanderbilt colleagues to our ComNet partners and highlight some big features in our overall portfolio – such as the ACT Enterprise rules mapping engine. This feature, in particular, blew a lot of our partners away with the possibilities it provides them and their own customers. I can only see combined opportunities from this in the future.

All teams working smoothly together

For me, showcasing the ACRE Group, with multiple brands and products, was a key takeaway from this event. I could witness how our visitors experienced the smooth navigation in the booth, with our Domain Experts, Product Experts, and Sales representatives crisscrossing the different platforms, showcasing our strong integration offerings and potential. In my opinion, this offered a delightful and seamless sense of security, a valuable gain for both end-users and installers alike. I interacted with many Indian customers, largely from Middle Eastern regions and some from India itself. Overall, it was a busy event with lots of conversations and engagements - surely a step towards a better value in the market-place for one and all.

Great interest in expansive & wide-ranging portfolios

I was so proud to be part of the sixth-largest access control company in the world, Vanderbilt, at the Dubai Intersec show, which is one of the largest security shows worldwide. This is my sixth show, and I would differentiate this year’s show by multiple factors. First, the fact that the presence of the Egyptian system integration companies was very strong. The second noticeable aspect was the high market demand for quality industrial switches and media converters for multiple applications. I would also add that the system integrators were clearly searching for systems that are easy to use, program, and integrate into other systems. In my opinion, this wasn’t a major factor in the past.The show was a great opportunity to introduce visitors to Vanderbilt Industries' other products, as many only knew Vanderbilt for our SiPass (Siemens) access control solution. The variety of Vanderbilt products on display at the show certainly helped our MEA team to target a wide range of business segments.
